Markus Biesalski wraps up habilitation and earns faculty position at TU Darmstadt

Markus Biesalski completed his habilitation recently just in time before he actually leaves CPI to take over his own faculty position (W3-Professur) as the Chair for Macromolecular Chemistry and Paper Chemistry at the Chemistry Department of TU Darmstadt.

Markus Biesalski studied Chemistry at the University of Mainz, and he received a Ph.D. in 1999 working with Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rühe at the Max-Planck-Institute (MPI) for Polymer Research on the synthesis and characterization of surface-attached polyelectrolyte brushes. In 2000 he moved on to a position as a postdoctoral associate working with Prof. Dr. Matthew Tirrell at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Research Laboratory (MRL) at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). In 2002 he rejoined the group of Jürgen Rühe now at the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK), at the University of Freiburg where he headed a DFG funded Emmy Noether Research Group on "Functional Polymer-Peptide Nanostructures".

Dear Markus, congratulations for your successful "Habil". We wish you all the best at your new place. Darmstadt is not so far away from Freiburg. So, drop by whenever you get home sick ;-).
