SearchA PhD for Christmas? Gerhard Baaken defended on Dec. 23
Just one day before (german) christmas Gerhard Baaken successfully defended his PhD thesis on single membrane channel assays with a planar chip devices. He developed a platform that appears to be very suitable for the investigation of channels in lipid membranes. He has demonstrated that the device along with a careful setup for readout opens the door for such measurements with a unprecedented signal-to-noise ratio.
The work was performed in close collaboration with the team of Prof. Jan Behrends at the Department of Physiology in Freiburg.
Congratulations, Gerhard. We are thrilled that you will stay with us for a little longer and continue this exciting work.
