Analysis of the layer morphology and virtual design of the catalyst layer of polymer elctrolyte membrane fuel cells

Project description

The vision of this basic research project is the development of basic techniques for a virtual design by means of the catalyst layers in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. The nano porous catalyst layer is reconstructed in three dimensions by a combination of focused ion beam (FIB) and scanning electron microscope. Based on this three-dimensional imaging approach investigations hitherto impossible investigations of the nano porous pore and solid phase of the catalyst layers can be realized.
