DFG Priority Program 1337 Active Micro-optics

Projektbild

Project description

Within the framework of the priority program Active Micro-optics, funded by the German Research Foundation DFG, 15 research groups from eight different locations in Germany are facing the challenge of imitating natural optical systems on a microsystems basis. The engineered biomimetic microsystems try to imitate the optical functions of a variety of natural systems - ranging from the human (single-aperture) eye and insects' compound eyes to the trinocular vision of the mantis shrimp. The German Research Foundation DFG is funding the Priority Program "Active Micro-optics" with 2.5 million euro allocated over a period of six years. The coordination of the program is under the chairmanship of the Laboratory for Micro-optics.
