Suleman Ayub graduated with a Bachelors in Mechatronics Engineering from the National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad, Pakistan in 2010. Afterwards, he was employed at the Centre for Advanced Research in Engineering in Islamabad until September 2011.

He joined the Master’s program in Microsystems Engineering in October 2011 at the Albert Ludwigs Universität Freiburg, and graduated in December 2013 with his Master thesis titled “Development and Characterization of High Temperature Pressure Sensors”. During his studies, he has been a scientific assistant in Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg where he worked on intelligent energy management systems. Since May 2014, he has been working as a PhD student on the development of state of the art optically active implants in projects Neuroseeker and Optical CI. His research focus lies in the fabrication of neural probes with integrated LED based light sources. Currently, these optical neural probes are being validated by project partners in mice brain.
