Research

Dr. Ivo Strauss´s research focuses on the restoration of pudendal nerve functions in spinal cord injury (SCI) patients. He is currently working on the development of a neural electrode that allows to selectively stimulate motor and/or sensory pudendal nerve fibers. His research covers:

1. Anatomical, histological, and immunohistochemical analysis of the pudendal nerve

2. Development of a thin-film intraneural electrode to stimulate the pudendal nerve

3. Electrochemical and mechanical characterization of the intraneural electrode

4. Implementation and application of biomimetic intraneural stimulation patterns in vivo.
