Dr. Keith Cobry
Keith Cobry was born in Boulder, Colorado, USA, and grew up in Lafayette, Colorado.  He concurrently completed a B.S. in Engineering Physics and a B.A. in Germanic Studies in 2004 at the University of Colorado – Boulder. In 2011 he was awarded the Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Colorado with a focus on Microsystem Technologies, under the direction of Professors Victor Bright and Alan Greenberg. His doctoral work centered on the development of acoustic and electrolytic integrated sensor systems for real-time, in-situ monitoring of membrane-based reverse-osmosis desalination systems. Throughout his college career, Keith was also involved in a variety of additional research activities, including nanosystems (carbon nanotubes as transistors and atomic layer deposition for MEMS), optoelectronics (characterization of quantum dot growth), and optics (electrowetting tunable liquid lenses for adaptive optics). Since completing his doctoral work, Keith has been engaged as Group Manager for Microreactor Technologies in the Laboratory for Design of Microsystems at the University of Freiburg (Institut für Mikrosystemtechnik – IMTEK, Laboratory for Design of Microsystems), under Professor Peter Woias. This work focuses on the characterization and optimization of chemistry for important industrial and pharmaceutical processes via microsystem technologies incorporating microfluidic design with integrated sensors and actuators.
