Verbundprojekt: Intellligente Brücken - Informationssystem zum Strukturmonitoring und Erhaltungsmanagement von Brücken (IB-ISEB)
Project description
The research project IB-ISEB, Intelligent bridges – information system for structure monitoring and maintenance is funded by the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt) through the research call “Intelligente Brücken – Sensornetzwerke und Informationsverarbeitung in Echtzeit”. ISEB is developed by a diverse consortium of partners – research as well as practice oriented. Areas such as self-powered sensing techniques, measurement methods, and software development are thereby researched. The aim of the project is the development of a prototype of an intelligent information system for structural monitoring of high stressed bridges. By using a wireless sensor network consisting of energy efficient and energy autonomous wireless sensor nodes, several different types of sensors will be used to monitor various bridge health and condition data. A web-based information system will be developed to visualize the monitoring data via different application modules. Influences such as moisture, temperature, pollutants (chloride), mechanical impact from traffic, wind and temperature (static/dynamic), component reactions, like ph value changes, corrosion, deformation, strain, vibration, cracks, vibrations and inclinations are integrated. The monitoring data is linked to engineering models to analyze structural conditions interactively.
The laboratory of electrical instrumentation develops throughout this project the various low power wireless sensor nodes and energy efficient communication protocols to build the structural condition monitoring network.
