VitaDr. Philipp Heizmann

Philipp Heizmann studied Chemistry at the Fakultät für Chemie und Pharmazie at the University of Freiburg. He graduated in 2017 in the Institute of Inorganic and Analytic Chemistry with a bachelor's thesis on manganese oxide coated carbon electrodes as water oxidation anodes. During the subsequent consecutive master's course in Freiburg, he spent one semester abroad at the University of Uppsala, Sweden, where he investigated bioinspired water oxidation catalysts. He completed his master's degree in 2019 with a master‘s thesis on the electrochemical oxidation of allylic alcohols. In October 2023, he completed his doctorate in the Electrochemical Energy Systems (EES) working group at the Laboratory for MEMS Applications on the topic of "Fantastic nanoparticles and where to find them: advanced electron microscopy for the investigation of novel electrocatalysts". Since then, he has continued his research into the micro- and nanoscopic characterization of fuel cells and water electrolysers through FIB/SEM and TEM tomography.
