Dr. Breitwieser, Matthias

Matthias Breitwieser finished his studies in microsystem engineering in 2013 at the technical department of the University of Freiburg. During his undergraduate studies he spend one semester abroad at INSA in Toulouse, France. He finished his B.Sc. with a bachelor thesis about laser processing of silicon solar cells and his graduate studies with a master thesis about the microscopic characterisation of silicon solar cells at Fraunhofer ISE in Freiburg.

After a 6 month period as scientific staff member at Fraunhofer ISE he started his PhD in May 2014 in the porous media group at the chair for MEMS applications (IMTEK). He finished his PhD in October 2017 at the chair of Prof. R. Zengerle with the title „Direct membrane deposition as novel fabrication technique for high performance fuel cells“. Since January 2018 he is leading the group „Electrochemical Energy Systems“ together with Severin Vierrath.
