Dr. Melanie Bühler
Head of Electrochemical Energy Systems - Applications
Vita
Melanie Bühler studied Microsystems Engineering at the Institute for Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) at the University of Freiburg and finished the Bachelor course in the year 2012 with a thesis about the characterization of silicon solar cells at the Fraunhofer ISE. In the Master course, she worked with bio fuel cells and constructed a flow-through test setup for abiotic glucose fuel cells in her master thesis at the Laboratory for MEMS applications (IMTEK). Melanie Bühler started her PhD in autumn 2016 at the Laboratory for MEMS applications with the topic “Development of novel electrodes for PEM water electrolysis”. In February 2020 she completed her doctoral thesis. Besides further developing porous transport electrodes for PEM water electrolysis, the research focus is on the design and characterization of novel membrane electrode assemblies for alkaline alcohol fuel cells.
