Joey Disch
PostDoc, Group Leader AEM Electrolysis
Vita
Joey Disch received his Master degree in Environmental Engineering with focus on renewable energy systems and chemical process engineering at the University of Stuttgart in 2019. In his master thesis, he was working on the “in-situ Characterization of a novel Redox-Flow Battery based on Ionic Liquids” at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE). In January 2024, he finished his Ph.D. about the electrochemical reduction of CO2 at the University of Freiburg under the supervision of Dr. Severin Vierrath in the research group Electrochemical Energy Systems. Since July 2022, he is leading the subgroup AEM electrolysis. His research focus is on the development and characterization of membrane electrode assemblies for the electrochemical reduction of CO2 and anion-exchange-membrane-based water electrolysis.
