VitaDr. Lukas Metzler R2 eng

Lukas Metzler studied chemistry at the University of Freiburg from 2010 to 2016. He developed his research interests at the Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry and wrote his master’s thesis under the supervision of Dr. Michael Sommer and Prof. Dr. Rolf Mülhaupt. He also used the master's program for a research internship in the group of Prof. Dr. Steven Holdcroft (Simon Fraser University, Canada) in the field of ionomer development. At the end of 2016, he started his PhD in the research group of Prof. Dr. Jürgen Rühe, (Chemistry and Physics of Interfaces - CPI). By applying covalent coatings he developed a droplet-based analytical platform for the detection of proteins. In April 2021 he joined the junior group "Electrochemical Energy Systems" where he works in the field of membrane and electrode development for water electrolysis.
