Dr. Stefan Zimmermann
PostDoc / Group leader Cell Priniting
Vita
Dr. Stefan Zimmermann studied biology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg focusing on developmental and cell biology. During his diploma thesis at the Max-Planck Institute of Immunobiology Freiburg, he characterized genes regulated by the cell adhesion molecule E-Cadherin. His PhD studies were conducted at the University Medical Center Freiburg, Department of Hematology/Oncology in the framework of the SFB 364. He investigated the role of telomere stability for the proliferative capacity of human hematopoietic stem cells. As a postdoc at this department he was mainly interested in the exploitation of telomerase inhibition for a targeted tumor therapy. In 2007 he took the position of a group leader in the department of Hematology/Oncology and could intensify his studies in the European framework programs FP6 and FP7. Since December 2014 he is working as a postdoc at the IMTEK in the Laboratory for MEMS Applications in the area of Non-contact Microdosage, where he is developing applications for single-cell printing technology. Since June 2015 Dr. Zimmermann heads the Cell Printing group.
