Mario Brehm

I earned a bachelor's degree in Biology. In my bachelor thesis I worked in Prof. Dr. Köhn’s lab, where I synthesized peptides in order to find inhibitors of the phosphatase SHP2, which plays an important role in cancer.

Here I am working on my master thesis for my current study program M.Sc. Biochemistry and Biophysics. The main question I want to address in my work is whether the cell cortex can sense attached beads on filopodia and lamellipodia. The high image contrast combined with the high temporal and spatial resolution of ROCS microscopy enables us to observe directed motion and fluctuations along filopodia at 100 Hz. Additionally, fluorescence imaging can give more insight into the actin dynamics within the cell.

In my free time, I love to do sports like mountainbiking, boxing, bouldering... and dancing. :)
