Dawid Cichowski, Dipl.-Ing.

Vita

Dawid Cichowski studied at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) from 2007-2013 with a focus on BioMEMS engineering and energy technology. He completed an internship at Siemens Pte. Ltd. in Singapore as a mechanical engineer in the Division of Mobility & Logistics in the Sector of Infrastructure & Cities. Here he worked on all phases of the redesign of a baggage handling system. In his undergraduate (Vordiplom) thesis work he examined turbulence fields on small scales (micrometers) by stereo PIV and numerical calculations using a fine-structure model at the Institute of Fluid Machinery (FSM) at KIT. He completed his Diplom thesis work at TRUMPF Maschinen AG in Switzerland under the supervision of Professor Andreas Guber from the Institute for Microstructure Technology at KIT, entitled "Can Ablation Rates of the Picosecond Laser be Predicted?”. This work focused on basic research into understanding of the process of material removal from different materials by a picosecond laser. Since mid-2013 he is pursuing a doctorate at the Department of Microsystems Engineering (IMTEK) in the Lab for Design of Microsystems under the direction of Professor Peter Woias.
