PhD student

VitaTruong-Tu Truong

Tu Truong grew up in Bavaria as a son of a philanthropist and a Kung-Fu Master. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at Biberach University of Applied Sciences. In his bachelor’s thesis, he worked on the establishment of CRISPR-based activation and inhibition platforms for the identification of therapy resistance mechanisms at the University of Cambridge. After a further therapy-oriented research project at the Cancer Research Center in Salamanca, Spain, he decided to re-orientate himself towards early diagnostics. So, he studied Biomedical Sciences at Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences with the focus on molecular diagnostics and wrote his thesis at altona Diagnostics GmbH in Hamburg, where he developed a PCR-based EHEC detection system. Since May 2021, Tu joined Peter Juelg’s team at Hahn-Schickard to work towards the vision of an automated multi-analyte extraction platform for liquid biopsies. In the meanwhile, Tu loves surrounding himself with good people, enjoys playing guitar and watching sunsets to 80s music.
