Dr. Severin Vierrath
Head of Electrochemical Energy Systems
Vita
Severin Vierrath studied Mechanical Engineering and Economics at RWTH Aachen University. He wrote his diploma thesis „A Control Design for Vertical Axis Wind Turbines “ at the „Institut für Regelungstechnik“ (Institute for Automatic Control Engineering). After working as a scientist at Fraunhofer ISE, Freiburg in the field of PEM electrolysis (solar hydrogen), he started his Ph.D. in August 2013 at the chair of Prof. R. Zengerle. He finished his PhD in April 2017 at the chair of Prof. R. Zengerle with the title „Morphological and Electrochemical Investigation of Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell Components“. Since January 2018 he is leading the group „Electrochemical Energy Systems“ together with Matthias Breitwieser.
