VitaZeba Khan

In May 2104, I completed Bachelor in Engineering from University of Pune, India, where I was awarded the ‘Best Outgoing Student’ from my college. My bachelor thesis, ‘Design and development of single stage flexural mechanism for LASER scanning operations’ was funded by Department of Science and Technology under the guidance of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization). With this thesis I published 3 papers, filed for a patent, ‘SENSOR-LESS XYZ SCANNER FOR PRECISION APPLICATION’ which is under process.
After my bachelors I also gained some valuable work experience at Atlas Copco India Ltd. Until July 2015.
In Oct, 2017 I moved to Freiburg, Germany, where I studied Master in Microsystems Engineering. I completed my course in Oct, 2020 with an exciting master thesis titled, ‘ Hybrid 3D printing: A coalesced printing of polymer and solder’ under the guidance of Dr. Peter Koltay and Dr. Zhe Shu. During my work, I demonstrated functional models of 3D electronics with electrical traces embedded within polymer layers. This work showcased a breakthrough in the conductivity achieved for the embedded metal traces. Taking the concept ahead, now I am pursuing my PhD to develop real application 3D electronics while working in Dr. Zhe Shu’s group, ‘Printing technologies and processes’ in the Laboratory of MEMS Applications.
